My profile says that I own bedrock edition but it says I have to buy java. I then logged into to see if there were any ways I could redeem a java account or download the bundled game but there were only links to the Microsoft store and other ways of purchasing the game. I thought this could be a bug with the new launcher and I tried creating my account on the old launcher but instead of the play button saying "Play" it says "Play demo", meaning I cant even attempt to make my account there.
But here's where I have an issue, when I click play and try to type in my username for java I am unable to play it because a popup in the top right shows up every time saying Unable to create profile.
The new launcher lets me open and play bedrock edition just fine. I do not recall seeing a popup saying "You already own bedrock, Get java edition as a bonus". When I found out I could get java edition for free I tried to do what the official Mojang page said to and I followed the steps installing the new launcher and signing into it with the same Microsoft account. I can still use this account to this day to play Minecraft bedrock on my pc and other compatible devices. I have a Microsoft account for bedrock edition that was purchased when Minecraft bedrock was was still called Minecraft pocket edition.
